Pink Amate paper

$12.00

Handmade by the indigenous Otomi artisans of Mexico.

The culture of amate paper dates back to Pre-Columbian Mesoamerican times. It is created from the bark of the amate (wild fig), jonote and mulberry trees. Each type of bark produces a different shade of color ranging from brownish brown when white, the pulp of these is often combined to produce a marbled effect.

This paper is an excellent option for use in works of art such as painting, pastel drawing, crafts, invitations, cards, envelopes and binding.
